Lux Insurance
Commercial Auto

Protect the vehicles that move your business.

From a single contractor van to a multi-vehicle fleet, Lux structures commercial auto coverage that fits your operation — not a generic template.

Why commercial auto?

Personal auto policies do not cover business use. Commercial auto insurance is a must-have for any business that owns or operates vehicles — including taxi services and other for-hire livery businesses. Only with the right coverage will you get proper assistance after wrecks, lawsuits, or other vehicle hazards.

Every policy looks different depending on the size, scope, and operating risks of the policyholder. Lux works with carriers that understand the difference between a landscaper's pickup, a plumber's service van, and a 26-foot box truck — and prices each accordingly.

What's typically included

Most commercial auto policies combine these coverages, tailored to your operation:

  • Liability — bodily injury and property damage you cause others
  • Collision — repairs after a wreck or collision with a structure
  • Comprehensive — theft, weather, fire, vandalism (separate from collision)
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM)
  • Hired & non-owned auto
  • Medical payments
  • Rental reimbursement
  • Roadside assistance
  • Towing and labor
  • Loss of use

Endorsements & supplementary coverage

Beyond the standard policy, we add endorsements where your operation needs them — closing gaps that a one-size-fits-all policy would leave open:

  • Drive-other-car (DOC)
  • Waiver of subrogation
  • Additional insured & primary/non-contributory
  • Mobile equipment & tools
  • Lease-gap coverage
  • Trailer interchange
  • Cargo (motor truck cargo or inland marine)
  • Pollution liability for haulers

Who we cover

If your vehicles do business, we have a market for you:

  • Contractors and trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing)
  • Delivery and service companies
  • Landscapers and lawn care
  • Real estate firms
  • For-hire livery (taxi, limo, black car)
  • Mobile service businesses
  • Multi-vehicle fleets
  • Single vehicle, business-use
  • Tow trucks and recovery
  • Caterers and food trucks

How a quote comes together

To shop the market accurately, here's what we'll ask for. Most of it you can pull together in 10 minutes:

  • Years in business and prior insurance
  • Vehicle list (year, make, model, VIN, value)
  • Radius of operation (local, intermediate, long-haul)
  • Driver list with MVRs
  • Use of vehicle (service, delivery, transport)
  • Annual mileage estimate
  • Loss runs from current carrier (if any)
  • Desired liability limits

Commercial auto FAQ

Can I just add my work van to my personal auto policy?+

Almost never. Personal policies exclude business use. If your van is titled to the business, used to transport goods or paid passengers, or marked with signage, you need a commercial policy.

Do I need hired & non-owned auto coverage?+

If employees ever drive their own vehicles (or a rented one) for business — running errands, picking up supplies, traveling between sites — yes. It protects your business when their personal coverage isn't enough.

What liability limits should I carry?+

Most contracts and leases require at least $1M combined single limit. For high-exposure operations or fleets, we typically recommend stacking commercial umbrella on top.

How fast can I get a certificate of insurance?+

Same day, in most cases. Send us the certificate-holder details and we'll have it issued within hours.
